Colombia.- Son 800 los mineros artesanales que fueron instruidos por la Autoridad Regional Ambiental (ARMA) acerca del procesamiento de mineral sin el uso del mercurio, indicó el gerente de esta dependencia, Benigno Erick Sanz.
Las capacitaciones se desarrollaron durante el 2016 en el marco del Convenio Minamata, que busca controlar el uso del mercurio en la actividad minera por ser de grave perjuicio para el medioambiente y la salud de las personas.
Al final de cada jornada de instrucción, los participantes suscribieron un Acta de compromiso, tal como se hizo en el centro minero Posco Misiki ubicado en Secocha – Urasqui, con los mineros artesanales del distrito de Quicacha, Asociaciones de molineros de Chaparra y mineros artesanales del distrito de Huahuhuanu – Mollehuaca y Atico de la provincia de Camaná y Caravelí. El acuerdo es suspender de forma progresiva el uso del mercurio y cianuro para la obtención de oro.
Otros 600 mineros de Caravelí serán involucrados en este proceso durante este año, agregó el gerente del ARMA.
