Shares of Indian metal and mining companies fell sharply on Tuesday, tracking a fall in global prices. On the Bombay Stock Exchange, the Metal Index closed 2.39% lower.
Sesa Sterlite fell 5.09%, JSW Steel slipped 3.72% and Tata Steel ended down 4.88%. Public sector Steel Authority of India (SAIL) lost 4.09%, mining major NMDC saw a 4.48% drop, while Hindustan Copper and National Aluminium Company (Nalco) closed lower by 4.71% and 3.82%, respectively. Jindal Steel & Power slipped 6.36%, Hindalco Industries dipped by 2.36% and Hindustan Zinc went down 0.41%.
